Coach Hayes Johnson
HEAD COACH
"I'm pretty lucky to be the Head Coach here at Hillwood because this is where it all started for me.
"I grew up swimming in Nashville Swim League and was a Hillwood Hurricane from age 11 to 18. Some of my best memories came from those summers. It was the perfect mix of having fun with friends and still getting to compete. That's a big reason I stuck with swimming.
Outside of Hillwood, I swam year-round at Nashville Aquatic Club. I had the opportunity to compete at the Olympic Trials ('08/'12) in five events, made the USA National Junior Team and National Team. I continued my career at the University of Texas, where I was team captain and part of a National Championship team. HOOK 'EM!
But honestly, what matters most to me now is creating that same experience I had growing up. I want this to be a place where kids are excited to come to practice, love race day, and build friendships that last way beyond the pool.
I'm also married to my best friend, Missy Franklin, who is a little better at swimming than I am, and we have two incredible daughters, Caitlin (4) and Chase (1).
Really excited for the season and grateful to be back with the Hurricanes! "

"Hi! My name is Rachel King! I am a lifelong Hurricane and I am so excited to be back at Hillwood this summer. I currently am a junior at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. I am studying kinesiology on the pre-OT track with a minor in nutrition. I love the Vols, cooking, and am a cooking enthusiast! I'll be studying abroad in Italy part of the summer, but when I am in Nashville I am free to give private swim lessons. I'm looking forward to being back on the pool deck!"

"I started swimming for Hillwood when I was 5 years old, and I've been fortunate to be part of it each summer since. Some of my fondest memories are early morning practices at HCC and spending time with friends until the sun went down. Beyond the friendships, I'm grateful for the culture created by the junior and senior coaches before me as well as the legend himself, John Goddard, and I look forward to the opportunity to invest in the swimmers this year."

"Hi my name is Margaret Grobmyer and I am so excited to be back coaching for the third summer! I am a rising junior at Wake Forest majoring in Business and Enterprise Management with a minor in Entrepreneurship. I have grown up swimming at Hillwood, and I love being a part of this team and all that we do. I am also free to give private swim lessons all summer and love to do them so feel free to reach out!"
